In my most recent trip to Hong Kong (May 24 to 28, 2007), my friends and I went around Hong Kong shops and malls, and I have these as gifts for myself:
Cantonese Phrasebook (from PageOne) - not that helpful without a cassette tape for pronunciation and tone guide. But I'm serious about learning this language, knowing that this would be helpful next time Joseph and I visit Macau (I'm seeing at least once in 1-2 years).. we really love the place.
Reinecke CD - Reinecke: Music for Clarinet
Can't wait to listen to Reinecke's tunes really really soon. I knew of Reinecke from Dea, and I really liked one of his works, I just forgot the title. It was a piece of work that features the clarinet, too. Here is the track list of the CD I bought:

About Me

- During my childhood, I was exposed to the world of classical music. An immediate influence is my father, who used to play bassoon for a local orchestra. I watched some of his performances and even went on tour with him. I appreciated it at those times, but never really understood the music. That was before. Eventually, as I grew up, I listened to other types of music (the more modern ones). During my teenhood, I found it best to gel with my peers - listening to pop music and current hits. I went back to listening to classical music during my college days, and right now, never felt more hungry for it. What really opened it up was a college friend of mine (a classical music listener, but not really hard core) who lent me (I asked for it, actually) a CD of piano works that I got obsessed with in time. Since that part of my life in college, I've been catching up on everything I missed, on everything I could have wanted but have never encountered before. I've been juggling (quite poorly, I guess) my daily activities (work), and this center of interest - which is classical music. I have this lifelong battle to find time (*make* time, even) just to fill up this ever-growing need.
